Dear Cathy,

 

The S62 indicates the Imperial year of the prior emperor. The Western
year is calculated by adding 1925 to 62, hence 1987. It is not clear
whether the number is an application number or a publication number,
so.....

 

Assuming a publication number:

 

In Questel's international FamPat database, you can search JP62001779/PN
to retrieve the attached record.

 

Assuming an application number:

 

The format is 1987JP-0001779/AN, which retrieves the other attached
record (for publication JP63171278).
