Hello,

I've already answered to few people how I managed to find those data of
French application but as there is a question again it means it is
interesting for others also. I'll repeat it for all PIUG readers (Thierry,
Gerard and Stephen sorry that you have to read it once again - just ignore
that message)

I started with all available patent databases of course.

But there was nothing so I just used Google trying different combinations of
numbers given by Brian.

I found that link (please look 3rd line from the end)

When I found name of S. Geribaldi it was easier to find few others links
especially this one (look page 73):

http://www.unice.fr/EDSFA/edsfa/QUADRIENNAL_08/DOSSIER_EDSFA_pdf/Annexe8.pdf

As you see, inventors (or assignees) put data themselves in Internet before
application publication...

I'm not as experienced with French documents as with Polish and I wasn't
sure if what I found was correct but the answer of Thierry Depiroux assured
me that it must be right document. It is not in databases as 18 months
period pass on the beginning of March. I'm also agree that those extra 07
are only a mistake (may be done during copy paste) ... conducting searches
in our patents department we have users who are coming to us with so many
errors in patents data... that such thing is quite usual.

Probably I had a chance finding a trail in Google and in other case it
wouldn't give an effect, but the conclusion is that when you really know
nothing, try also this way...

Hi,

I think Peter is right : Brian's number should read 0607680 and it is the FR

application number (N° d'enregistrement national ; INID code 21, see

http://www.wipo.int/export/sites/www/scit/en/standards/pdf/03-09-01.pdf,

p.5).

As stated in the INPADOC tables at France [Number format concordance -

application/priority numbers, or

http://documents.epo.org/projects/babylon/eponet.nsf/0/D7F5F82A1B1AAB32C1257
3B700560D52/$File/appl_prio_0712.pdf],

FR applications are given a FR application number YYNNNNN, say Brian's

0607680, with 2 digits YY for the year and 5 digits NNNNN for the serial

number.

Furthermore, Stephen, there are two types of serial numbers, depending on=

the way of filing:

- serial numbers > 50001 for electronic filings

- serial numbers from 00001 to 49999 for paper filings

total: 17245 FR applications filed in 2006 (anyone knows the ratio

paper/electronic, maybe Alex ?)

Hence, Brian's 07680 should have been filed on paper.

Like Thierry said, Brian's FR0607680 filed on 1/9/2006 shall be published=

around 1/3/2008, most probably on friday 7/3.

Agnieszka, how did you get your biblio data ? Derwent ?

Robin

PS: Note that, surprinsingly, you can get more FR granted patents (B1)

published on http://fr.espacenet.com/ than on

http://www.espacenet.com/index.en.htm ; same for other countries, like NL.=

Please read Steve Van Dulken's post on this

)

Dear Stephen,

>From my point of view it seems that this irritation arised due to a typing=

mistake from Brian's side ...

Usually French patents get the Brevet number ("N° d'enregistrement

nationale" - Code 21) which consists of the application year abbreviation -=

in this case 06 and a serial number of the applications in this case 07680.

Take a look at the already published e.g. FR2896108 (with the same

application date) for comparison.

Best regards,

Peter
