[PIUG List] Patent Analytics Workshop at 2008 PIUG NE Conference

PIUG looks forward to welcoming you to the Northeast Meeting beginning Mond=
ay, October 13. PIUG is also is pleased to present the Wednesday, October 1=
5 AM workshop: Automating Patent Analysis for Competitive Advantage, presen=
ted by Barry Brager of Perception Partners. This is the fourth time PIUG ha=
s sponsored this workshop on the important mechanics of and insights from p=
atent analysis, and it is recommended for searchers, information scientists=
, librarians, patent agents and attorneys.

This workshop addresses the important steps of performing and automating pa=
tent analysis from start to finish. The workshop walks attendees through t=
he critical post-search steps of patent data cleaning, taxonomy development=
 and categorization, visualization, insight development and report formatti=
ng. There are overviews of the appropriateness of software tools from multi=
ple providers, lessons in preparing and presenting data to management using=
 analytic techniques, and important hands-on examples of preparing, handlin=
g and manipulating data from multiple sources for use and re-use in ongoing=
 analysis activities.
