Alan-

I have a JP Patent Application for which I can not find a copy of the
full-text. I have tried everything We found a US patent that is related
to it, but the attorney does not think it is an equivalent. Can you
help get hard to find JP patent applications?

Laurie

        Dear Anne,

Just to add to Darlyn's comment - Before April 1996, the B
document was subject to an opposition process during which one or more
of the claims could be rejected or amended. The existence of an
opposition can be determined from the prosecution history. The Japanese
version of PATOLIS also had this information. The C number is simply a
registration number.

        Best regrds,

Subject: [PIUG List] Help interpreting JP granted patent number

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me decipher a
JP numbering question I have. I have a patent with the following
numbers attached to it:

        JP 02-82726 A (March 23, 1990 - unexamined application)
        JP 06-38676 B (May 18, 1994 - examined application)
        JP 1909055 C (February 24, 1995 - granted patent)

I have gotten copies of both the A and the B document, but I can
not find a copy of the C document anywhere, including in the JP Patent &
Utility Model Gazette DB.

I am being told by a vendor that the B document is the granted
patent and the C number is "only the Registration Number for the granted
patent", but the publication dates tell me otherwise (B is granted
patent AFTER 1996).

What am I missing here? Is there a JP C document with the
number 1909055 on its face?

        Thanks,
        Anne
