[PIUG List] Best Wishes, Kerry!

I'll certainly second Marty's tribute, but....
If Marty really wanted to prod the memory of really old people, he might
have cited "Goodbye, Mr Chips" Mr Holland seems so recent!

Kerry has always been one of the experts/instructors/presenters who has
the most to say, and he always said it very, very well.
He is a great example of how a person can be simultaneously authoratative
in knowledge and approchable in style.

Best Wishes, Kerry!

And mine too. I'll bet if all of the people whose training Kerry had a
major role in came forward it would sound like "Mr. Holland's Opus" (a
1995 movie that we "old" people may remember :-) )

Good luck in your "retirement", Kerry, and I hope that your future is
everything that you want it to be.

Marty

[PIUG List] Kerry is retiring

Dear friends, colleagues, peers;
First of all - if you are saying "Kerry who??" - my apologies for
cluttering your inbox. However, over the years I have met and enjoyed
working with so many members of PIUG that I thought a broadly distributed
email would be ok.
My surprise announcement for the day. Well maybe not that much of a
surprise to some.
Effective July 1 this year I plan on retiring from CAS. While I have no
real particular post-retirement plans I do not plan on becoming a coach
potato. Since Rita's fight with MS shows no signs of abating this will
provide more time for care and to take advantage of the "better days".
Rita and I do plan on trying to make the trip to our kids/grandkids a few
more times each year. Obviously significant travel plans are not in the
picture, although I hope to get out locally for hiking and kayaking, and
plan to get back to a more consistent running regimen. We do have an
Outer Banks vacation planned in June with the family. I may also explore
volunteering with the local Habitat for Humanity organization. I will
still stay involved in the patent searching world to some degree working
with Science IP in a part-time, part-time basis!!
It has been a great 3+ years with Science IP and 14 years total with CAS
preceded by 22 years as a chemist and information scientist in the
pharmaceutical industry. I've learned alot, enjoyed working with great
people, and had the opportunity to travel and meet many knowledgeable and
exciting folks in the searcher/patent world. I am especially appreciative
of the opportunities, support and friendship provided me by all members of
the PIUG and its present and past officers. Thank you all.
While the CAS email address may still be alive and well, my personal email
and home phone number is:

from either side of "@")

Take care,
Kerry
