[PIUG List] Further spoofing attack and backscatter consequences

Dear colleagues,
My e-mail address has been subject to another round of spoofing, at
approximately 14:00 GMT Friday 8 August. Approximately 1800 messages
from various security systems and firewalls made it into my inbox, and a
further 7100 were diverted to my spam folder. It has taken most of the
morning just to delete them!

In common with the last attack, I can only request that any clients or
contacts who find that e-mails from myself have dried up suddenly,
should please contact their IT support to see whether my address has
been black-listed as an alleged bulk e-mail sender.

In particular, please could I ask Lucy Akers at BMS to check, as I am
not sure she has received e-mails from me since the last attack in June;
Lucy, please could you get in touch?

To other clients, I can only apologise. It now appears as if my current
e-mail address is fatally compromised and I will have to migrate to
another one gradually. This will involve re-registering on a number of
discussion lists over the next few months (and I've only just had a
batch of business cards printed, too!). In the meantime, please
continue to use the "stevea" address. Alternatively, go back to good
old fax systems - number at base of this message.
