RE: [PIUG List] The PIUG Professional LinkedIn group is available

Hey Alan:

I'm not presuming to answer for the PIUG group, but rather giving an
umbrella answer. LinkedIn is one of today's hot social networking
vehicles as are Facebook, Twitter, etc.

When you get a critical mass of users within your social network, you
can use the connections to further your business and/or social life.
For example, if one of my existing LinkedIn relationships has a
connection to a company that I haven't been able to get a contact
for, I can use that relationship to open a door that had been closed to me.

While it sounds so simple that it might leave you shaking your head
in wonder that something like that could ever be useful, the key
(IMHO) is that you get a large enough group to be of use. An
advantage of PIUG creating a group is that it has a built in critical
mass factor and (presumably) everyone that joins the PIUG LinkedIn
group have like interests and issues.

In the end, it's just another vehicle to communicate with people,
just like this listserv is, but perhaps in a more personal way.
