[PIUG List] When PTOs compete (the JPO's plan)

Some patent offices are setting themselves up to compete with each other as=
 linchpins of industrial advancement. The Japan Patent Office is one such =
office.

 

Last week the JPO released for public comment its “Draft of JPO's B=
usiness & System Optimization Plan (Additional Version of Searching System)=
.” The original is at http://www.jpo.go.jp/cgi/link.cgi?url=/ike=
n/iken_systemsaitekika.htm. I have started to translate this document. Th=
is work in progress is at http://www.paterra.com/JPONewSearchSystem/JPOSyst=
emsOptimizationPlanDraft.htm. Currently, only the outline is complete but =
it is enough to show the broad scope of the JPO’s plan.

 

The JPO is inviting public comment at http://www.jpo.go.jp/cgi/link.cgi?url=
=/iken/iken_systemsaitekika.htm. The deadline is September 5.

 

On August 27, the Intellectual Property Committee of the American Chamber o=
f Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) will meet to discuss interest in submitting comm=
ents. As a member of this committee, I will participate in this meeting. =
PIUG members with comments are invited to send them to me for consideration=
 at this meeting.
