Dear Vince,

To monitor all European cases with new oppositions you can set up SDIs in S=
TN's INPADOCDB or EPFULL file. Both files offer detailed legal status infor=
mation with the opportunity to search for distinct legal status events.

In addition to the short indication of opposition filing in the legal statu=
s in EPFULL the detailed display format OP is available. " D OP" will show =
opposition date as well as names and addresses of opponent and opponent rep=
resentative.

The search queries are quite simple in both files:

INPADOCDB

S EP25/LSC (L) YYYYMMDD/UPLS

EPFULL

S EPB780/LSC (P) YYYYMMDD/UPLS

(LSC: legal status code; UPLS: legal status update date)

Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you need further information.

Kind regards

Claudia

Members of the list-

I have a question about researching EP Patent Oppositions. I am interested =
in finding out how interested third parties can find out when a Notice of O=
pposition has been filed against a granted EP Patent. What is the first ins=
tance where the public can determine that an opposition against an EP Paten=
t has been filed?

Thus far, I have been able to determine that in the Register Plus service a=
t www.epoline.org there would appear information on an opposition as soon a=
s the formalities officer has worked on a received opposition document. But=
what I am trying to determine is if there is more efficient way to monitor=
all EP Oppositions, rather than having to restrict the focus of your due d=
iligence to monitoring a specific EP Patent for 9 months from its grant. I=
deally, I would like to be informed of all EP Oppositions in a real-time ma=
nner. Is this possible yet?

A related question on this topic- is the first public disclosure of Opposit=
ion information in the EP Patent's Register Plus record? Does the EPO publ=
ish a list of all the patents which have had a Notice of Opposition filed a=
gainst it in a separate Gazette or Register?

Finally- aside from official sources, is there a secondary source vendor of=
this information that can be obtained by interested third parties in a ti=
me-sensitive manner?

Any advice from the members of this group is much appreciated, and thanks f=
or your timely assistance on this matter.

Cordially,

Vince Mariano
