Dear Vince,

For monitoring individual cases, the easiest is WebRegMT on epoline
http://my.epoline.org.

If you wish to monitor all European cases for new oppositions you may
try to setup an SDI on the file EPPATENT
http://www.questel.com/en/customersupport/userdoc/fctsht/Eppatent.pdf in
Questel using the query "OPP=YES"
See their advanced manual
<http://www.questel.fr/en/customersupport/userdoc/docpdf/Training_manual
_advanced.pdf>
http://www.questel.fr/en/customersupport/userdoc/docpdf/Training_manual_
advanced.pdf for details on setting up an SDI.

I have not tried this, but it would be my first attempt.

As an alternative you could setup an SDI in Inpadoc's legal status file
on STN
http://www.stn-international.de/stndatabases/databases/inpadocdb.html or
Questel
http://www.questel.com/en/customersupport/userdoc/fctsht/lgst.PDF

Or,

You could download the European bulletin every week from
<http://www.epo.org/patents/patent-information/european-patent-documents
/european-patent-bulletin/download.html>
http://www.epo.org/patents/patent-information/european-patent-documents/
european-patent-bulletin/download.html and read the section on
opposition to find all new oppositions.

Choose your preferred method,

Best regards,

Subject: [PIUG List] Researching EP Patent Oppositions

Members of the list-

I have a question about researching EP Patent Oppositions. I am
interested in finding out how interested third parties can find out when
a Notice of Opposition has been filed against a granted EP Patent. What
is the first instance where the public can determine that an opposition
against an EP Patent has been filed?

Thus far, I have been able to determine that in the Register Plus
service at www.epoline.org there would appear information on an
opposition as soon as the formalities officer has worked on a received
opposition document. But what I am trying to determine is if there is
more efficient way to monitor all EP Oppositions, rather than having to
restrict the focus of your due diligence to monitoring a specific EP
Patent for 9 months from its grant. Ideally, I would like to be
informed of all EP Oppositions in a real-time manner. Is this possible
yet?

A related question on this topic- is the first public disclosure of
Opposition information in the EP Patent's Register Plus record? Does
the EPO publish a list of all the patents which have had a Notice of
Opposition filed against it in a separate Gazette or Register?

Finally- aside from official sources, is there a secondary source vendor
of this information that can be obtained by interested third parties in
a time-sensitive manner?

Any advice from the members of this group is much appreciated, and
thanks for your timely assistance on this matter.

Cordially,
