Hi Laura,

Time flies and some insights (within terms of
use) into the EAST system in USPTO:
    * Examiners Automated Search Tool a.k.a. EAST
    * v2.2.1 as at 21st May 2008
    * v2.2 -> published date, March 2008
    * A very secure desktop software, EAST.exe to be exact
    * Very fast connection to the source
databases (text & images) - in milliseconds
    * Current DB sources (7): US-PGPub, USPat,
USOCR, FPRS (Foreign Patents Retrieval System), EPO, JPO, Derwent
    * Missing DB source: IBM TDB (as indicated
in it's help file, this source seems to be part
of the system once upon a time)
    * Speculation: v1.0 date of the EAST system
is 1999 (based on menu Help -> About)
    * Speculation: Contractor that developed this system, "35 U.S.C. 103"
