True. And in fact if you go to the PAIR system, it *requires* that you
provide an 8-digit number just as you describe. The results are always
unique.

The PAIR system will not accept a six-digit serial number for lookups,
and it will not accept a conjunction of the filing year with the
six-digit serial number.
