RE: [PIUG List] JPO to cut patent & trademark fees

AOL doesn't accept email from our email server so I am replying on list.

 

The JPO's budget is protected from being grabbed for other government
programs, unlike the USPTO's budget.

 

FYI, after moving to Japan last June, I have found Japan's taxes to be
significantly lower than in the U.S. The most striking difference is in
property taxes which are about 1/8 of what we had in a Main Line Philly
suburb. My guess is that this is mainly because the costs of education,
police and fire departments are borne at the national level.
