QPAT version V6.1 released

The recent release includes a number of new features:
-        PatFamily a graphical display of INPADOC (extended) patent families
-        PatCitation graphical display of cited and citing patents
-        Unfolded hitlist display by default (in the user preferences)
-        Timeout extended to 24 hours

PatFamily
The PatFamily graph link is available after running a “Family (extended)” search and generates a PDF file graphing the patent family publications by year as well as showing links from the publications to priority numbers.

PatCitation
PatCitation links are included for all displays containing cited references (for example the MAX and COMPLETE displays).  These links are included in family, citation searches, and the Citation Report.
Citation coverage includes: EP, WO, US, JP B, DE, GB, FR, AU, BE, CH, NL, TR.

Questel announces LBO by SGCE
On December 21st, SG Capital Europe take a majority share in Questel through an LBO operation. Management and employees of Questel remain significant shareholders in the Company.
 

Questel release PatLegal Monitor

This easy-to-use alerting service automatically notifies users of any changes made in patent families, legal status and file histories from various patent offices.  Types of actions monitored include legal actions related to published patent applications and granted patents during their prosecution and opposition.

Office coverage
-        The EPO for monitoring patent families, legal status
-        The EPO’s epoline service for EP and Euro/PCTs
-        The USPTO’s Patent Application Information Retrieval service (PAIR)
-        The German Patent Office, for monitoring all changes in official actions

Alerts
Alerts can be setup to automatically run every week, 2-4 weeks, or every 8th week.  You also have the option to not receive a report if there are no changes in legal status.  Subaccount information may be included as well to better keep track of the alerts.

Reports
PatLegal Monitor’s reports are color coded to highlight any new, modified, or deleted actions making them easy-to-read, and administrators also receive the legal status reports, a summary report, and a report listing all the reports generated.

DesignFinder: A brand new way of accessing the service is available

It is now possible for anyone to order online a DesignFinder subscription for one day, for a week or for a bundle of days in a year. Additional options to save searches or to set Alerts are also available.
Using the system can start immediately as the payment can be made online with a credit card or with a PayPal account.
This new possibility was highly requested by those users who do not need DesignFinder on a regular basis.
DesignFinder is a very powerful information management system aimed at federating, retrieving and watching registered industrial design information.
Today, it covers World registrations at WIPO, the European Union as well as five Countries: France, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, United States.

QPAT: Group up to 5000 records
Since November 8th, it is possible to group up to 5000 records ( in search results) in QPat after a full text cluster search.
New Japanese database now available in CaTaMaran Plus
Coves back to the end of the 19th century with an English translation available.

September Release of QPAT v6
This new version of our increasingly popular patent search service includes a number of new features to increase usability, navigation, user-friendliness, and sharing capability. Enhancements include:

Searching
-         Introduction of a Quick Search page allowing novice patent searchers the ability to perform a basic patent search
-         Ability to permanently store, edit, and run a search strategy
-         Multi-page index search for assignees and inventors allowing you to quickly see and choose the possible differences in spellings and indexing
-         Easy number search allowing you to search and retrieve variations in patent numbers – for example US 5,000,000 or US5000000

Navigating
-         Links to classification definitions have been expanded to include IPC Reform
-         Links to EPOLINE for the EP register
-         On-the-fly translations to and from German, Spanish and English
-         Significantly enhanced multi-color key word highlighting at both the search and hitlist screens
-         PDF ordering available from the hitlist for either the hitlist displayed patent or all the family members
-         Users can now select which patent in the family will be displayed in the hitlist, from the earliest, most recent, or preferred country preference family member

Exporting
-         Printer-friendly screens
-         Faster exports in all available formats
-         Record export significantly expanded to 2,500
-         Links to drawing mosaic and original patent facsimile in PDF available in PDF and RTF exports
-         Standard XML export format for all displays – XML Lite
-         Enhanced extended family table export

August Industrial Designs: DesignFinder WO database extended back to 1979

Since August 16th, you can search the complete World database in DesignFinder. It features:

  1. An extended back file of complete text records back to 1979.
  2. Improved image coverage from 1985 onwards.
  3. Improved and more complete legal status record.
  4. 1 Record per design and not 1 record per application making it consistent with all other databases.

We hope to soon be add more images prior to 1985.
DesignFinder continue to provide the only comprehensive coverage of Industrial Designs information.

Questel system upgrade

On July 1st we launched the latest version of Questel which is more robust and performs 10 times faster than the previous version.
This extensive two-year project to migrate our Questel service from mainframe to UNIX not only results in a faster and more dynamic system for you, but also will allow us to update databases faster and gives us an excellent platform to offer the latest in search, analysis, and visualization technology in the future.
All of the databases with the exception of those listed below will all be available on the new system.
On June 30th, 2007, the following databases are not available on Questel:
- FRANCIS
- SW
- *WODESIGN
- *FRDESIGN
- ITALPAT
- RAPRA
- IALINE
- FSTA
- JANSSEN

May Release of QPAT v5
This is not just a step better than the previous version, but represents a significant enhancement which incorporates our new search engine which is over 10x faster than the previous versions of QPAT. Also included in QPAT v5 is the introduction of a Japanese language version.

Questel Acquires INCOM IPS Business
Today May 31st 2007, Questel announced the acquisition of INCOM IPS business. INCOM IPS,
based in Bonn, Germany, is a well known and respected company in the intellectual property
field, with more than 15 years experience with patent information processing. Their key patent
solution products include PATWARE, professional solution for managing digital; PatCitation, for
searching and monitoring patent cited references; PatDocs, for delivering worldwide electronic
patent copies; and PatLegal, for monitoring patent family and legal status.

Cette fonction est réservée à la recherche Standards. En cliquant sur l'option
<< Combiner >> disponible dans le menu de gauche, l'utilisateur affiche la liste des requêtes exécutées pendant sa session en cours.
Il peut ainsi effectuer :
          - Une combinaison simple en sélectionnant les questions et en choisissant UN
            opérateur parmi les opérateurs ET, OU, PAS.
          - Une combinaison plus complexe en utilisant la ligne de commande et en tapant
            lui même la question. Dans ce cas, il est possible d'entrer plusieurs
            opérateurs avec les parenthèses.
L'utilisateur peut également :
          - Afficher les documents y compris ceux d'une question précédente
          - Demander la vue pour impression du tableau de combinaison.

Wistract® Now Available for Worldwide Distribution

  • Life Science and Chemistry specific filters:

QPAT v4.3 released
We are pleased to announce the release of QPAT v4.3 which includes a number of new features - all requested by customers.  Enhancements include:
Session saving capability - Your session is automatically saved and can be resumed within 2 hours.
Independent claims searching feature - You can now directly search this value-added FamPat Plus content.
Printer friendly hit-list - Our hit-list now comes with a printer-friendly version which allows you to either print or cut and paste it properly.
Quick access to the mosaic - The drawing mosaic is now available when clicking the displayed clipped image within the hit-list or within other display formats. Please note that you can choose to zoom or to display the mosaic in your "User Settings".
Export now includes links to the original patent copies in PDF - This option is available in your "User Settings"

 

PatCitation, a new patent citation feature available in Qweb 2
Developed by our partner INCOM IPS, PatCitation includes:
• Patent number search page
• Comprehensive report containing links to:
• Patent number searched
• Cited and Citing Patents
• Citation graphic showing cited and citing patents by year
• Extended patent family (INPADOC)
• CSV download
The cited/citing content includes: US, JP B, DE, AU, GB, FR, EP, WO, AU, BE, CH, CY, DK, ES, FI, GR, IT, LU, NL, SG, TR.

The new PatCitation feature is available within our Qweb product (our web interface to all Questel online services) and the cost of a report is 11 Euros / $14.00.

New Manual Codes now in DWPI(SM)
 
New and revised Manual Codes went live in Derwent World Patents Index(R) in update 200701 and you should start to see them in your search results. Don’t miss out on important data - please check your searches and alerts to ensure they include any relevant new codes or any changes to existing codes.
