PAVIS was established in 1980 as a cooperative of German patent attorneys, with its 34 founding members united by a vision to support patent agencies in all essential administrative tasks through the employment of computer software.
First, by drawing on emerging technologies, PAVIS succeeded in developing a reminder and payment program for IP fee payments, focusing on patent renewals. Then, over the following 40 years, the IP service provider grew rapidly by continuously developing its services, software, and systems in line with client requirements and market innovations.

CFO
Thomas Gruber joined PAVIS in 2017, becoming Managing Director in 2018, heading up marketing and sales, patents, trademarks, recordals, and HR. Previously, Thomas was the Chief Strategy Officer of ‘wer liefert was’ (wlw), the leading B2B marketplace in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. With a degree in business management and an MBA, Thomas has more than 14 years of management experience in marketing and sales. Over his career, he has also held positions at various cable network operators and the Handelsblatt Media Group.
CFO
Sven Schielke has been the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of PAVIS GmbH since July 2023, with responsibility for finance and payments. Before PAVIS, he was the CFO of the German subsidiary of a Banco Santander Group payments company, COO of a FinTech, General Representative of a major German Bank, Head of Payments with a leading German Real Estate Bank, and a Director at KPMG. Sven holds a master's degree in business studies from Munich LMU University, is a Financial Risk Manager (FRM/Global Association of Risk Professionals), and a Qualified Banker (HypoVereinsbank).
