Questel acquires ULT Research

Questel, one of the world’s largest online intellectual property service providers, announces the acquisition of ULT Research, a leading provider of Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) software. Questel’s patent and trademark data and analytics tools will be incorporated into ULT’s IAM software to put significantly more power into the hands of their users.

Founded 20 years ago by Igarashi-San, ULT is used by more than 1000 customers in Japan. “This acquisition will reinforce our presence in Japan” explains Charles Besson, Questel’s CEO, “and accelerate our growth in the Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) industry”.

Igarashi-San, who will remain onboard, added, “Thanks to Questel’s dashboards and competitive intelligence capabilities, our customers will be able to make better decisions”

ULT, based in Tokyo, provides a patent and trademark management software called “TOKKYOCHO 13” which is widely used in Japan by both law firms and corporations. ULT has also developed “Gensen,” an invoicing software for IP law firms.
